I agree, Amazon is a beast online. Every time you search for a product, there is Amazon with products at the top of the search engines.

I think it this will be much convenient for the customers but its going to a hard time for the other competitor to compete with Amazon since Amazon is master beast in online business. And also I agree with kanishk. Thanks a lot for posting this great article.

Why not do it. Amazon does really well online and the next step would be a brick and mortar store. Although I would have never thought they would do that.

I heard of this before and in opinion, I do not think that it will work unless they copy the style of Barns and Nobles or Borders.

Well I think it is a good idea that has been taken up by amazon. But I would rather have a web store on my own hosting and domain. I’ll sit home and order what I need from them and just have it delivered to my home thank you. Infant Baby Bedding

This is the stupidest move I’ve ever heard. I think they would have been better off partnering with a player that equaled their online savvy, offline. Offline people dont want to “pickup” they want to “shop” and this totally kills the experience. I’ll sit home and order what I need from them and just have it delivered to my home thank you.

Furthermore, Amazon has created huge competitive advantages online:

- Awesome conversion rates.
- Superior affiliate management (tools, compensation, freedom) = huge online sales force
- Price comparison/merchant platform.
- Great user reviews system.

How do any of these translate offline? They are better off getting into the FedEx business if they want to save costs/expand reach.

I think amazon is doing the right thing but I also agree with lisa that is is essential to have an online presence if you own a casual book store.
