Key Terms
Contacts - Are customers and suppliers. A contact is a person an often belongs to a company. One company can have many people attached to it.
Business File - All of the financial transactions and related information for your legal tax entity such as company, organisation or individual. Set up multiple business files for different legal entities if required.
Tags - A way of classifying information including transactions so that you can report on them later. Useful for business divisions, warehouse locations, projects, strategic initiatives, anything that needs tracking flexibly.
Bank Accounts - Are for making and receiving payments. They can also be credit cards or loan accounts.
Accounts - Are for classifying transactions for their purpose so they end up in the correct part of the profit and loss (or balance sheet).

List of Accounts and Contacts
You will need these to start entering transactions. Click Add in the Main Menu and choose:
- Bank Accounts to setup Bank Accounts, Credit Card and Loan Accounts you have.
- Accounts to setup the categorys you need to code you transactions e.g. Expense:Rent
- Contacts to setup Suppliers and Customers you transact with
Opening Balances
If this is a new business you won’t need opening balances. Opening balances help you carry your current financial position into Saasu from your old software. Add opening balances from Main Menu » Accounts (list) » Opening Balances link.
Business file’s tax identity details
Click on Settings in the Top Menu and work through My user settings, My subscription settings and File identity settings. Add the details for the tax entity that this file represents. Make sure you confirm or change your GST/VAT/TAX status in the Manage File Identity Settings area
Invoice Template
Click on Settings in the Top Menu and look in the Sales section and click on PDF Template Settings. From here you can setup your invoice look you are after. Have your logo image file in GIF or JPG format handy to upload.
Again from the Sales section click on Email Template Settings to setup your email format for sending Sales Invoices. Make sure you include a BCC copy to yourself by default.
Inventory Items
From the Main Menu click Add and select Items. You will need to add or import all your inventory items before you can create an Invoice or Purchase using the Inventory Item format.
Employees
Add your Employees and large companies might even consider using Pay Groups for processing Group Payroll and creating direct to bank files for multiple employees at once. Click More LIsts in the main menu and choose Employees. From the screen that loads you can Add new employees using the link.
