What Are Zones?
A zone is a way of defining a set of local behaviour you need from your business management system, it is much more flexible than traditional financial systems settings which were based only on country or state.
Saasu currently supports over 50 zones with more being developed every week. If you need one for your area just tell us.
A zone may be a -
- Country (any nation) or
- Another ‘area’ that is sub-national and is a legal jurisdiction in its own right for some laws or conventions or
- Either of the above that has particular set of business operating rules or culture that only applies to some sub-set of the population based on a non-geographic selection criteria
The different types of behaviour could be base currency, sales/consumption tax (GST/VAT or similar), payroll items and so much more.
A zone is hence much more than just a country because there may be multiple zones for any one country (over time) to handle specific circumstances.
An area might be any of these and more -
- City (such as New York or Sydney)
- District (such as Columbia)
- State(such as Florida or California or New South Wales)
- Administrative region (such as Hong Kong)
- Locality (such as the DIFC in Dubai)
- City State Country (such as Singapore)
A Zone can also be used to define special behaviour for a particular type of business that have special behaviour within a country such as exporters in a particular area.
We expect zones to be an increasingly common means for national, state, local and other forms of government around the world to compete economically in specific circumstances (usually defined geographically but not always) without making changes that impact their entire country.
